Harry Brook (W 13-17) Makes History with Record-breaking 202 in Rawalpindi

England captain Harry Brook produced a sensational, record-breaking innings in the One-Day International tri-series match against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi on 22 October 2026, scoring 202 runs from just 116 balls. His extraordinary knock, featuring 21 fours and 10 sixes, made him the first English batter to score a double century in men’s ODI cricket. He also broke the record for the fastest ODI double century, reaching 200 in just 114 balls and surpassing the previous record of 117 balls held by India’s Shubman Gill.

Brook’s remarkable performance propelled England to an imposing total of 429 for four, supported by Joe Root’s 69 and Will Jacks’ explosive unbeaten 66 from just 30 balls. However, in a dramatic finish, Sri Lanka chased down the target with one ball remaining, winning by two wickets after Pavan Rathnayake scored 130 and both Avishka Fernando and Dasun Shanaka contributed 97. Despite England’s defeat, Brook’s historic innings will be remembered as a landmark moment in English cricket and one of the most extraordinary individual performances in ODI history.
