Hannah Page (L 10–15) Runs the Equivalent Elevation of Everest to Raise Money for TRIBE Freedom Foundation
OS Hannah Page took on an extraordinary five-day running challenge across the Dolomites, covering 208km and climbing 8,990m to raise money for TRIBE Freedom Foundation, which fights modern slavery and human trafficking. Here, Hannah shares the highs and lows of the challenge, and the powerful motivation behind it, in her own words.
I chose to put myself through this because I can. Not everyone has that freedom.
“208km, 8,990m of elevation gain, 35 hours on my feet and 5 days running across the Dolomites. I DID IT!
I quit my full-time job to go freelance, and decided the best way to spend my first week without paid annual leave was to run the equivalent elevation of Everest.
Great financial and physical decision if you ask me or my accountant!
That feeling of being on cloud 9 singing karaoke half way up a mountain, with 100km on my legs, with one of my best friends is a feeling I wish I could keep reliving. (Or bottle and sell to make millions!).
But the main reason for doing this was to raise money for TRIBE Freedom Foundation, who fight modern slavery and human trafficking.
Throughout the week we heard stories about the women and children supported by the Foundation, and its work providing safe houses for survivors of sexual abuse and trafficking. Women who were promised better lives and had their freedom taken away.
Hearing those stories whilst voluntarily putting myself through five days of physical discomfort really put things into perspective.
A HUGE thank you to everyone who donated, followed along and put up with me talking about running for the last 16 weeks. All for a cause that deserves so much more attention!”
Many congratulations to Hannah for undertaking an epic challenge for a vital cause.
