Current Appeals and Projects
Sedbergh is not about privilege but about the education of children from a broad spectrum of backgrounds and has been ever since our founder, Roger Lupton, gave his lands for ‘the education of the young of the dales’.
The Sedbergh School Foundation supports various fundraising appeals and projects aimed at enhancing the educational experience for current and future pupils as well as prestigious scholarship awards established to offer transformative educational opportunities for talented pupils from diverse backgrounds.

500 for 500 Appeal
As we celebrate 500 years since the founding of the School, we are more determined than ever to continue our Founder’s vision. We want Sedbergh to be known for the outstanding opportunities it brings to the young, irrespective of background.
This year therefore, in celebration of our 500 years, the Foundation is launching a new appeal, 500 for 500 to allow one boy and one girl to come to Sedbergh on a Roger Lupton Scholarship.
Roger Lupton Scholarship & Bursary Scheme
A good education can unlock opportunities, increase potential and transform lives.
The Roger Lupton Scholarship and Bursary Scheme was launched in 2012. It’s principal aim is to provide life-changing educational opportunities for exceptionally talented young people from disadvantaged backgrounds such that they can fully develop their potential through an education at Sedbergh that truly does justice to their skills, talents and work ethic.
To safeguard the education of future scholars, the Foundation has to continue to generate financial support for this worthwhile cause.
