The Development Office
In 2023, the Development Office was created to coordinate the activities of the Old Sedberghian Club and the Foundation. While these two organisations retain their individual legal status and are governed by a Committee on the one hand and a Board of Trustees on the other, the Development Office was established to coordinate activities between the two.
Meet the Team
Ben Collins
(Powell House 1996-2002)
Ben Collins studied classics at university prior to joining Barclays Bank, becoming Branch Manager in Cwmbran. However, as a former Ten Mile Winner, the call of the North was great, and he returned to Sedbergh in 2014 to take up the position of Alumni Director. Following the creation of the Development Office Ben also took on the title of Associate Development Director.
Maria Gallego-Calderon
Maria read Anglo-Germanic languages and Anglo-Irish History, subsequently training for a career in Human resources. In 2015 Maria moved to Sedbergh working for the HR Department, transferring to the Development Office in 2023, as Events and Communications Officer.
Helen Seabridge
Helen read European Studies prior to working in local government in London. In 2011 Helen moved to Sedbergh to join the Foundation and is the Foundation and Database Officer.
Emily Rowe Rawlence
Emily studied English Language and Literature and has a background in Arts Administration. She joined the Development Office in 2024 as Content and Media Officer, a part-time role she combines with her position as Marketing Manager at Swaledale Festival.
David Calvert
David was for many years an accountant in the School’s finance department. In 2019 David retired, taking up a part time position as Treasurer of the Old Sedberghian Club and a consulting accountant for the Development Office.
Katy de la Rivière
Katy studied History of Art in her homeland of Scotland and later worked in a Fine Art Auctioneers in Edinburgh. Katy retrained to be an archivist and joined Sedbergh School as the School Archivist in 2007. She particularly enjoys working with pupils and the OS community to share the history of the school.
